|One of my fave looks/ models from the Generation Q Adverts.|
I have been anticipating this collection since I heard about it this summer. I've been around the makeup block enough times that MAC releases no longer crank my tractor. But the fact that Illamasqua decided to use regular people as canvases for their Fall Generation Q collection - well. I was completely sold. So here are my thoughts on what you should get, and what you should skip. (The see in person subheading is being omitted because you can't really test this brand out without ordering it in the US, and right now it's only available on the Illamasqua website and not on Sephora).
WHAT TO GET!
Complement Palette - Three powdered eyeshadows and one Liquid Metal, in a beautifully sculptured compact. The reason I am jonesing for this palette so hard is because of the Liquid Metal, it's supposed to be this cool toned taupe brown shade with a touch of purple. And that sounds completely awesome to me. The other shadows are equally lovely for fall, with soft plums and purpley taupe being de mode for this season.
Underworld Lipstick - If you know anything about me, you know I LOVE a purple lipstick. Illamasqua is no stranger to including various types of purple lipsticks in their collections for a while now. Generation Q is no different. Underworld appears to be an unusual purple-y shade, a light non-pastel purple with blue undertones and a bit of a shimmer. A great lipstick for keeping Fall feeling fresh and a quick grab in the spring to break up the winter time blues.
Wisdom Precision Ink - Another Illamasqua staple. Almost every collection has a newly formulated precision ink, and with Generation Q its a lovely antiqued gold shade called Wisdom. I really like Precision Ink, having owned Abyss and Havoc. I think Wisdom is a unique enough color, but in a wearable disposition thats perfect for the upcoming holidays.
WHAT TO SKIP!
Charisma Nail Varnish - We can agree to disagree about this, but I feel like I see this color EVERYWHERE. And, in light of that, could acquire it for cheaper.
Allure Powder Blusher - A basic dusty rose. It just doesn't scream that I need this! to me. Especially since, you could get it for cheaper from a brand like NYX. Their desert rose blush looks pretty close to Allure and it's 1/3rd of the price.
I'M SO INTRIGUED
Opulent Sheer Lipgloss - Rainbow Beige? Reminds me of MAC's Resort Life Lip Gelee that everybody and their mom went NUTS over. It looks cool. Like a fun alternative to a basic nude lip, or a more user friendly version of a frosty 60s lip (another en-vogue decade). But, I'm just unsure, on the lip swatch it pulls grey, and that is all that I see.
Anyways, if you're in the US - wait to purchase this collection from Sephora. Because you will absolutely get hammered in the exchange rate. Or unless you plan on purchasing 75 GBP (or like 150 USD +) worth of merchandise for the free shipping. It's just more cost effective to pay the pro-rated price from Sephora for your makeup.
