Beauty school dropout... no graduation day for you....
Can you believe it's August? I can't either and it's slightly surreal that this theme no longer applies to me, becauuusssseee I'm no longer in school (and haven't been for like 4 years). So, I'm excited but, mainly I'm excited because I don't have to deal with academia ANYMORE! HUZZAH! Thank you Birchbox for such a pleasant reminder!
True Story - I always thought Frenchie was the best character in Grease. I wanted her fluffy pastel hair.
A little light on the products this month.. but is thata BB cream sample!?!
Well lookie here... my toolbox for the school I'm not going to. Gotta get hot for all of my co-workers I guess?
Viva La Juicy La Fleur - My immediate thought is that I do not like Juicy Couture anything, much less a floral Juicy Couture. I cannot take a brand that got famous because of velour tracksuits seriously, and I will probably never wear this. I actually handed it over to my sister as soon as I saw it. I think this is the second or third JC sample I've received from Birchbox.
DDF Brightening Cleanser - This is quite a hefty size. I'm not sure that it is full sized, but it is certainly a travel sized/ ample sized cleanser. I've no exposure to this product, but I am fast running out of my Skyn Iceland Glacial Waters Facial Cleanser, so I can't wait to try it!
Larabar - I was going to just flat out say Barf and leave it at that, but then I thought about how negative and un-informative that would sound. So I am going with this. This tastes like Barf, and because the taste is less than savory I do not like it. There. Better?
LiQWd Professional Volumizing Catalyst - This is a volumizing/ bodifying spray. If this works the way my Aveda Style Prep (which I lurve) works, then it needs to be applied to freshly washed and conditioned almost dry hair. You aren't supposed to focus it on the roots, but rather spritz it all over and then just blow dry the crap out of your hair, using a brush to direct it how you want it to go. Then it just adds all this lovely texture and volume to the hair. I would say this product will be better suited towards shorter hair, that would benefit from some messy, misdirected, undone texture.
Dr. Jart's Water Fuse BB Cream - First off. I love the way this smells. It smells so strongly of sunscreen. And. I. Just. Love. It. The cream itself is really lovely, sheer, smooth, moisturizing, semi-matte dry down, lovely greige undertone... Wait. In the BB cream furor everyone kinda forgets that these were also primarly used as lightening creams to make the skin whiter. I don't think this has translated well into American/ European brands. But this greige-y tint the Dr. Jart's has is definitely whites my face out. Perhaps a better candidate for winter?
You can see the grey/ white tint on my hand from the Dr. Jart's BB Cream. It's less obv on the face, but it does pale you out.
